A Welcome From Our Leadership

Welcome to Royal Atrium Inn. We're glad you took the time to stop by, and we hope you’ll stay for a while and get to know our community better.

Royal Atrium Inn is an ideal place to get the assistance you need. Jeff Zylstra has been the Community Manager here for over 25 years, and we're grateful for the excellent reputation we’ve had for so long. Zeeland is a great place to live, close to so many towns, allowing family members to visit often. We have beautiful grounds with surrounding ponds, and inside, we have a lovely garden atrium with palm trees and fountains. Our large, accessible bathrooms are helpful to so many residents, and we have exceptional response time to personal calls.

While we know you’ll get a good idea of Royal Atrium Inn from these web pages, we’d love for you to come for a visit so you can see for yourself how much we can offer you and your family. You can enjoy one of our delicious meals, stay for a hymn sing, or play pinochle with some of our residents.

You see, we’re all family here. We really like every piece of our mission statement: “to enhance the lives of those we serve in the name of Jesus Christ.” We think the word ‘enhance’ best describes our ministry. No matter who we are, or what our job description is, everyone has the opportunity to enhance lives. Good food, correct bills, fun activities, the right medications, fixed air conditioners, a prompt response to assistance, clean floors, a smile or kind word—all enhance lives. And that’s what we do here.

We know the search for the right place to live can be a difficult one, but we hope that search leads you to us. We’re friendly and helpful, and we’re happy to answer your questions. We hope to meet you soon.

Community Manager

Rick VandenBerg

Rick VandenBerg came to lead Royal Atrium Inn in 2021, but he had been an administrator at another Providence Life Services sister community for an additional 4 years. He is a Registered Nurse and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with over 30 years of experience in healthcare, first as a CNA, then RN, and moving into management. He truly has a well-rounded view of working in senior living and healthcare, which is what makes his ability to lead unique.

Rick and his wife (also a nurse) have been married for over 25 years, and they have two daughters and a cat (who runs the home). When Rick isn’t at Royal Atrium Inn, he enjoys walks with his wife, camping, bowling, and a great cup of coffee. He says, “Everything that we do should be done with Jesus in mind, body, and spirit. For me, it inspires me to do everything to my very best, and to know that what we do is more than just a job or a role; it’s truly a mission and a calling.”
